Life and Art: Arts & Crafts from Morris to Mingei
National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto
This exhibition has been specially created for Japan, following the V&A’s International Arts and Crafts exhibition, which was shown in London in 2005. The work of William Morris and his influence on the Arts and Crafts Movement forms an important aspect to the exhibition, which features a room set inspired by Kelmscott Manor, Morris’s home in Oxfordshire. This new room set echoes the reconstruction of the Mikuniso featured in the Japan section of the exhibition, emphasising the importance of the home as the ultimate
expression of Arts and Crafts ideals.
