events
if you are visiting Chicago during November and early
December you should not miss the events commemorating the
100th anniversary of the founding of the Chicago Arts &
Crafts Society being held at several Chicago area locations.
Participating institutions include:

- Second Presbyterian Church
The
focal point is an exhibit tided The Chicago Arts &
Crafts Movement, on view until 7 December at the
magnificent Second Presbyterian Church, a national
landmark with stained glass windows by Tiffany & Morris
& Co. which has been described as the "crown jewel of
the Arts & Crafts movement in the Midwest."
This exhibition honors the 1897 founding of the Chicago
Arts and Crafts Society at Hull-House, the famous Chicago
settlement house & highlights Chicago notables including
F. L. Wright, Ellen Gates Starr, John & Frances
Glessner, & architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, who
designed Second Presbyterian Church's interior. The show
also features objects by Chicago movement artisans and
designers. It is made possible by generous grants from Craig
& Janet Duchossois & the Illinois Humanities
Council.
Voluntary Admission: $3. Hours: Wed., Thu., Fri. 10am to
3pm; Sat. 9am to noon; Sun. following the 11am worship
service.
