potter since 1974, making hand-thrown and brush-decorated porcelain, bespoke

of Arts and Crafts, Maureen was trained in the reduced stoneware tradition of
Bernard Leach. In 1955, she set up the Shepherd’s Well Pottery which she ran
until 1960 with David Eeles. Apart from a short period after her marriage, Maureen
has taught pottery since 1953, at numerous Adult Education centres in London,
Fareham and Portsmouth. Her work has been exhibited at the Craft Centre and
the Design Centre (both in London), the Southern Ceramic Group and various
galleries, most recently in Winchester Guildhall and Portsmouth Museum.
Besides her other work, she makes the “official” William Morris Society mug -

woodworker working in the style of Arts & Crafts designers such as Philip
Webb, CFA Voysey, Ernest Gimson and MH Baillie Scott. Among the items
available to commission are replicas of the Morris adjustable armchair
designed by Webb, GE Street’s Student’s Table and Voysey chairs. Chests and
