William Morris Needlepoint: An Illustrated Lecture
A lecture held at the Metro Reference Library in Toronto, by Beth Russell. Russell founded the Designers Forum in London UK. She adapted some of Morris's most popular designs for her own needlepoint embroidery kits for pillows and rugs.

W. R. Lethaby and the Arts and Crafts Movement
An illustrated lecture by Godfrey Rubens, author of William Richard Lethaby: His Life and Work, 1857-1931 (Architectural Press, 1986). Sponsored by the William Morris Society of Canada, in the second floor auditorium of the Museum for Textiles, 55 Centre St., Toronto. William Morris and the Oxford Society for Promoting Study of Gothic Architecture
Lecture by Hams de Groot, professor of English at University College in the University of Toronto and former president of the William Morris Society of Canada. Held in conjunction with the annual general meeting of the William Morris Society of Canada--on the centenary of the day that William Morris died--at the Museum for Textiles, 55 Centre Ave., Toronto. Free admission. Refreshments will follow the lecture. The annual general meeting will commence at 7.30pm and the lecture will follow at about 8.00pm.

Burne-Jones's Pygmalion
Lecture by Dr. Caroline Arscott will present a paper on Burne-Jones's Pygmalion series which derives from a story recounted in Morris's Earthly Paradise. Dr. Arscott teaches 19th century British art at the Courtauld institute, London University and is an external examiner for the history of art and design BA at Cardiff. Sponsored by the William Morris Society of Canada at the Museum for Textiles, 55 Centre Ave., Toronto. Refreshments will follow the lecture. Fee $7 non-member, $5 member of WMS of Canada, $3 student.

The Universities Art Association of Canada (UAAC) Annual Conference will take place 7-10 November 1996, at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A full-day program with Canadian and international speakers titled "William Morris and the Influence of the Arts and Crafts" will be held on Friday, 8 November. Christmas Potluck Dinner Party
Potluck dinner sponsored by the William Morris Society of Canada, to be held at the Cabbagetown home of member Eleanor Moorhouse at 57 Metcalfe St. Bring a hot or cold dish and your choice of a beverage. The house is situated on the eastside of Metcalfe and north of Winchester (one block east of Parliament). There is no number on the house, but it is between numbers 55 and 59. For public transit: bus #68 from Castle Frank Station down Parliament to Winchester, or bus #94 Wellesley to Parliament and Wellesley corner, or the College streetcar to the corner of College and Parliament and walk north one block to Winchester. From all of these walk one block east to Metcalfe.
