A NOTE BY WILLIAM MORRIS ON HIS AIMS IN FOUNDING THE KELMSCOTT PRESS Together with a Short Description of the Press by S. C. Cockerell, & An Annotated List of the Books Printed Thereat
An Enlarged and Corrected Version edited by William S. Peterson

The most important source of information about the Kelmscott Press is A Note by William Morris on His Aims in Founding the Kelmscott Press (1898). The last book printed at the Press, it contains an essay by Morris, a history by Sydney Cockerell, and a list of its publications issued. William S. Peterson--author of A Bibliography of the Kelmscott Press (1984) and The Kelmscott Press: A History of William Morris's Typographical Adventure (1991)--has now prepared a new, augmented text, recording variants from manuscripts and proofs as well as later corrections made by Cockerell himself. He has also supplied an introduction and an index.

This is, in effect, a definitive second edition of the final Kelmscott volume, and it contains a wealth of fresh information about the writing and production of an exceptionally significant book. It is handsomely designed and typeset by Professor Peterson and printed letterpress from photopolymer plates by the Stinehour Press. Co-published by the William Morris Society and the Grolier Club.

ISBN 0-910672-18-0,

96 pp., 6 x 9 in.; quarter-linen with a Morris pattern paper on boards. 750 copies printed letterpress by the Stinehour Press.
